Why We Built This Site
Minnesota court information is public through channels that serve different jobs. A Dakota County case can be found in MCRO, a hearing can appear in a daily calendar, and a certified record comes from Court Administration. Those routes are easy to confuse, especially because Dakota County has service locations in Hastings, Apple Valley, and West St. Paul while remaining one District Court.
We organize the official starting points and explain their roles in plain language. Court Administration is the local keeper of judicial case files, registers of actions, calendars, and copies. A police department, county attorney, or city data-practices office may hold related executive-branch material, but those sources do not replace the court docket. The goal is accurate routing, not a substitute for the court.
What You Will Find Here
The docket pages focus on the official Dakota County channels and the questions each one can answer.
- Docket explanations: the public case history, Case Events, and Register of Actions for criminal and civil matters.
- Court-date routing: the Dakota daily calendar, MCRO Hearing Search, and Court Administration confirmation path.
- Case lookup information: name, case-number, citation-number, document, hearing, and judgment search options in MCRO.
- Record-copy details: courthouse terminals, counter access, mail requests, certification, and the Dakota fee schedule.
- City context: how Lakeville, Eagan, Burnsville, Apple Valley, and Inver Grove Heights citations reach the unified District Court.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference resource, not Dakota County District Court or any Minnesota government office. It does not operate MCRO, schedule hearings, receive filings, change a court date, remove or seal a court record, or issue an official copy. Those functions belong to the court and its Court Administration office.
- We cannot retrieve a nonpublic or sealed Dakota County case file.
- We cannot confirm a hearing beyond the court’s current record.
- We cannot provide legal advice about a case, charge, deadline, or order.
- We cannot certify an online printout or issue a court seal.
- We cannot treat a city police or administrative record as the District Court docket.
For an official Dakota County docket, a current setting, or a certified copy, use MCRO as the public search route and verify the result with Dakota County District Court Court Administration.
Search Partners
Some pages include third-party search advertising. Those services are separate from Dakota County Court Docket, MCRO, Dakota County District Court, and Court Administration. They do not supply the official judicial record, and their information may be incomplete or outdated. Court dates, public-access limits, and certified-copy requests should be checked through the official Minnesota Judicial Branch channels identified throughout this resource.
